After completing the water analysis, assessing the facility's reuse potential and production goals, ProChem offered an improved wastewater treatment solution with a water reuse system. Additionally, ProChem performed on-site pilot testing before placing the solution into production at the facility.

This solution included an upgrade to the physical/chemical treatment program in their existing wastewater treatment system, which removes sulfates and other low level metals from the wastewater and feeds it to the water reuse system. The water reuse system was added on to the customer's existing wastewater treatment system and features ProChem's high pressure reverse osmosis (I-PROTM) technology, which further purifies the wastewater and feeds it back into the facility's manufacturing process. This solution is designed to provide flexibility for future production expansion.

The alternative reuse technology that the facility explored (all ion-exchange process) was proven to be not as effective as ProChem's I-PROTM technology.

Both ProChem systems are equipped with local monitoring and automation controls and ProChem's web-based remote monitoring service, requiring minimal operator interaction.

With ProChem's water reuse system and physical/chemical treatment program (with ProChem chemicals and resins) in place, the customer is experiencing a 90% wastewater reuse rate and 100% discharge permit compliance.
